Light plan - Living room

LIGHT IN THE LIVING ROOM
In the previous blog Applications for LED Lights, our LED experts discussed the basic principles that are necessary for developing a lighting plan. In this part, we provide advice and tips on lighting the living room.

MULTIFUNCTIONAL
The living room is a multifunctional space, where we watch TV, read books or receive friends and family. By using lighting in different ways, the right atmosphere can be created for every function. It is therefore important to know what the different light types do with the room and how they can be used optimally.

OPTICAL ILLUSION
Depending on the purpose you choose ceiling or floor lamps. If you want to make the ceiling of the living room look lower, choose a lamp on the ceiling. If your ceiling is on the low side, then you could consider standing lighting to create the illusion of a higher ceiling. For standing lamps, it is important that the light beam goes towards the ceiling and also that the light beam goes across the width, in order to be able to illuminate as much of the ceiling as possible. It is advisable to install a dimmer on the basic lighting so that you can adjust the light intensity at any time of the day.

FIXTURES
There are various fixtures available, pay attention to the purpose of the lighting before you make a choice. A luminaire with a cap ensures that the brightness of a light beam decreases and that it will also spread less far. An advantage of a lampshade is that the light beams can be guided indirect paths so that, if placed properly, an even distribution of light will occur. When creating a reading corner in the living room, the lamp must meet certain conditions, enough brightness, dimmable and directed light that can be turned in the desired direction.

MORE ATMOSPHERE
Now you naturally also want more atmosphere at home, this can be achieved by using more limited light sources. An example of this is a spot that lets you shine on a painting on the wall or a floor lamp that illuminates a beautiful plant, by playing with light and objects you can create playful shadow effects that create more atmosphere. By adding candles as decoration and alternative light sources to the interior you bring more intimacy into the living room, the same goes for a fireplace.

With LED  lighting you can go in any direction, there is a suitable lamp for every situation. You can count on us for your living room lighting, there is a wide range of spotlights, dimmable lamps, special shapes, and various accessories.
